Happy Boxing Day! I hope everybody had a lovely holidays/break from life.
For my first post, I wanted to discuss how I have finally found something that works for me. For years, I have had an unhealthy relationship with food, which used to mean eating as little as possible and frantically doing cardio (usually jumping jacks in my bedroom) in an attempt to lose weight quickly. Though this seems to work for a little while I always ended up unhappy and literally just hungry.
For a while after this I decided that I would be happy with my body however it looked, because it is the only body that I have and I literally would not be alive without it. I still do feel this way! However, this soon became unhealthy too, as I would not think about what I was eating and never exercised. Obviously, there came a point where I decided that enough was enough.
A lot of people in this industry have always been sporty, but for me this isn’t the case. I was always the girl who sat out of P.E., and as mentioned previously the only exercise I’d ever attempted was cardio, which I always found boring after a while (I still do). When I decided to make a real change with my body earlier this year, I thought yoga would be a good way to ease myself in – what I didn’t expect was how hard my first class would be! Now, yoga is my time to switch off, and even if I’m super busy I make time to go to at least one class every week, and I improve every class, which feels amazing. I also cook a lot more, experimenting and trying out new things, and I love it! With food, I never restrict myself, but try to make healthy choices and always use fresh ingredients.
I’ve never felt better in myself and for once this doesn’t mean extremes of either weighing myself multiple times a day or binging without a care in the world. So my advice would be – find what you love and make it fun for you!
