Review of Rounds @ 1Rebel Broadgate

So this morning I finally got to try out a class at 1Rebel! I actually just submitted my dissertation on Friday and I’ve been so excited to get my body moving again so I thought what better way than a good old sweaty session? Sadly the only class I could make was at 8:45am and it was hell waking up so early but definitely worth it.

When I first got to the studio I was amazed at how gorgeous it was! I’ve been to a lot of boutique fitness studios, especially in the City, but this one really stood out. The changing rooms were amazing too, with every product you could possibly hope for so you don’t need to take anything but yourself and your kit.

While I waited for my class I preordered the protein shake ‘drop your snickers’ which was almond milk, banana, cacao nibs, peanut butter, maple syrup, Himalayan salt & chocolate protein. Side note: easily the best protein shake I’ve EVER had and I’ve been thinking about it all day… hoping to recreate it at home too.

The class I did was called ‘Rounds’ which was 30 mins each of their Reshape and Rumble classes. It’s been quite a while since I’ve properly worked out and I can definitely say I was NOT expecting to get straight into treadmill sprints! My chest hurt for the next two hours, not exaggerating… So we did some treadmill work, then went down to the floor for squats, deadlifts, push ups, chest press, ab work etc. After one more round of sprints we then went over to the Rumble room. I’ve been really wanting to get into martial arts and I LOVED this. It felt sooo empowering to hit the bag and we did some other stuff in between to mix it up – lots of ab work and also a burpee challenge I thought I had no chance of finishing but somehow managed to! It was a 3 min challenge to do 21 hooks on the bag, then 21 burpees, then 15 of each, then 9, then 3, then a plank hold. Getting to 21 burpees felt even harder than writing my dissertation and I’m so shocked I managed it! I ALWAYS skip burpees when working out… or ‘accidentally’ miss a few numbers when counting reps.

I had to quickly run out as I had to be at work for 10:30 but I grabbed my shake and quickly ran to shower with their amazing products. I had to run off but luckily had my protein shake to fuel me… sorry I couldn’t help but have a sip before I got a chance to take a picture! Immediately after this I ran to my store (Sweaty Betty) for the class we were hosting with Barrecore – which again was INCREDIBLY hard so I felt like this shake was definitely well deserved.

I’m so glad I managed to get to this class and can’t wait for my next one! Would definitely recommend for anyone who wants to sweat HARD and have fun doing it! PS if you still need convincing they are plastic free – you can even borrow a reusable water bottle if you forget yours!!
